Sydney’s premier monthly event will be returning once again in April . Please note that 99 on York have asked that all YSB attendees sign-in at the front desk whenever entering the venue, please make sure you sign-in from now on. Those driving in might want to consider a membership at the club – $5 a year with $5 off parking every visit (plus you won’t have sign-in as a temporary member every month).

We’re pleased to announce that YSB 41 will also be a qualifying event for Battle Arena Melbourne 8! The winner of both Street Fighter V and Mortal Kombat X will be granted seeding at Melbourne’s major next month.

[SYD] Reminder: YSB #39 updated tournament schedule – Feb 27th

ysb_sf5_mkx

Sydney’s premier monthly event, York Street Battles, is taking place tomorrow featuring Street Fighter V for the first time. In case you missed it, you can get caught up on all the event’s information here, otherwise here are the important updates you may have missed since the event was first announced:

  • Due to the high demand of Street Fighter V, Super Turbo and Persona 4’s tournaments have been cancelled for the month. Casuals will still be available for both games, this just allows us to free up staff to help with Street Fighter V and its wonderful controller quirks
  • Speaking of Street Fighter V, legacy controllers will be supported this month on the proviso that players are able to make their sticks work themselves. We are expecting a large turnout for the event so players should not anticipate any support from OzHadou staff on this matter
  • Virtua Fighter  5 Final Showdown and Mortal Kombat X still have tournaments at 5 and 6pm respectively so be sure to check them out too. The Virtua Fighter 5 Final Showdown community will be continuing their Victory Road series, a tournament series designed for players old and new
  • For players entering tournaments, keep an eye on the OzHadou Challonge page to track when your matches will be played

It’s going to be a big event tomorrow so please be punctual for tournaments and have your gear ready to go to help assist staff as much as possible. All info for the event can be found here, otherwise see you all tomorrow!

Location: Red Room, Level 1, 99 York St Sydney NSW 2000

In addition to the usual YSB format, this YSB’s tournaments will double as Sydney/NSW’s seeding qualifiers for the next major tournament, BAM5.

Register for BAM5 here http://www.couchwarriors.org/bam/

Discuss YSB in the event forum http://forum.ozhadou.net/index.php?topic=7959.0

The doors will open at 11.30am so we can start setting up. If you’re bringing setups, it is recommended that you come at this time so you can set your stuff up as well. Also, if you plan on parking downstairs you will have more chance of getting a spot if you’re early.

You are free to move about any setup you like playing various casual games, though in the interest of fairness and ensuring everyone gets games in, please restrict your casual matches to the best of three games, before swapping out with someone who is waiting. Winner stays on.

Bring Your Own Controller (BYOC)
To prepare for future major events like OHN and aligning ourselves with EVO, setups provided by OzHadou for casual and tournament play will not have any controllers (sticks/pads). If you want to play on these setups, you will need to plug in your stick or pad. There will be no spare controllers available. On the slight chance that people aren’t using their stick or pad, you can ask them for permission to borrow it. Keep in mind they are allowed to refuse. Guilt tripping them will not be tolerated. Alternatively, if you have made arrangements beforehand with your friends to share sticks that’s fine as well. Seriously though, save yourself the hassle and carry a back pack with a stick/pad in it.

OzHadou setups are all Xbox360. For those people who are bringing their own setups that use other consoles, sticks should be provided. The Sydney Tekken Community intends to provide all equipment (including sticks) and will be playing TTT2 on PS3, although availability of setups for Tekken at this stage is yet to be confirmed. Further details for Tekken will be coming soon.

Super YSB #15 Pre-Payment

As mentioned in our Super YSB announcement, we will be giving online pre-payment a try for the next event. This will require a Paypal account to use, much like OHN entry.

For now we are only accepting general entry which is $15. Tournament entries ($5 per game) will be collected on the day and allocated to the prize pots for each game. Please be sure to specify your preferred gamertag/handle so that we can accurately populate the brackets should you choose to enter any tournaments. You can visit the pre-payment page here. For any questions or queries for the event, please leave a comment below or in the YSB #15 thread on the forums.

Super YSB 15: The New Challengers!

Update: An online pre-pay/sign up page is now available for YSB #15. Please check it out here.

For those of you in Sydney the next YSB event will be a little bit different. We will be expanding YSB to include the Sydney Tekken Community thanks to the TTT2 console release.

Date: Saturday 10th November, 2012
Time: 12pm – 11pm
Location: Red Room, Level 1, 99 York St Sydney NSW 2000
Entry Fee: $15 prepay online*, $20 at the door

(*In the coming days we will have an online payment system available. Details soon.)

The next YSB will be held at 99 On York as per usual, however we will be moving into the ‘Red Room’ which is the same room as the last two OHNs. This means we have a larger area to use, more players and an expanded array of fighting games to play. The format of the day will be the same as usual, with the same starting times (12pm – 11.00pm).
