[SYD] York Street Battles #49 Results

Boasting a staggering 200+ entrants, this month’s (first) YSB was one of our biggest to date. A special thank you once again should go to Bandai Namco Australia for their support with Tekken 7, as well as everyone who brought additional setups and helped with running brackets on the day.  Here are the full results from the weekend:

[SYD] York Street Battles #49 – March 4th

YSB is back on March 4th featuring a tonne of tournament and casual play in the heart of Sydney’s CBD. Virtua Fighter’s Victory Road is kicking off its 2017 season, thanks to Bandai Namco Australia we’ll once again have console builds of Tekken 7 available and all your other favourite YSB staples will be on deck once again.

All pre-registration will now be done through a Smash.GG portal for the event, where you can pay using a debit or credit card. Even if you are paying cash on the day, you can sign up online to make sure you’re in all your brackets ahead of time and then fix it up with the door staff upon arrival. Please make sure all tournament fees are fixed prior to the start of the tournament, or you will be disqualified from the bracket. 

Centralised registration on the day will cease at 1pm so if you arrive after that, please find one of the tournament organisers floating around and sign up via one of us. Registration for all Smash games open at 12 and close at 12:30.

There’s a lot to look forward this month as always, here are the details:

Tournament times for this month are as follows, please note that the times have changed from 2016’s schedule:

*note: Registration closes 10 minutes prior to tournament time, please make sure you’re early so you don’t miss out
12:30pm – Super Smash Bros. for Wii U, Super Smash Bros. Melee
1:00pm – Street Fighter V ($5), Virtua Fighter 5 Final Showdown
3:00pm – Guilty Gear Xrd: Revelator, The King of Fighters XIV, Tekken 7
5:00pm – Super Street Fighter II Turbo, BlazBlue: Centralfiction
6:00pm – Mortal Kombat X ($5)

Tournament participation is optional and tournaments will only be run if there are a sufficient number of entrants for each bracket on the day. Signups will open 30 minutes before each scheduled start time and close 10 minutes before the bracket is scheduled to start, look for a YSB staff member to register. The tournament fee for SFV and MKX is $5 with the entry distributed to the top 3 players. Tournament fees for other games are up to the organiser of each respective tournament and will be decided on the day.

In addition to the listed tournaments, there will be plenty of casuals available for a variety of games on the day. These range from the KOF franchise to older titles to a variety of anime games. If you’d like to co-ordinate casuals for a particular game, drop a comment on the Facebook event or speak to a YSB staff member on the day and we’ll be more than happy to try and co-ordinate a setup. BYO set-ups are also strongly encouraged.

2017’s first YSB is almost upon us, featuring a tonne of tournament and casual play in the heart of Sydney’s CBD. Update: Tekken 7: Fated Retribution will be returning to YSB once again this month, thanks to our friends at Bandai Namco Australia! We’ll have 3 PS4 setups at the venue for casuals all day as well as a tournament at 4pm.

November’s YSB is shaping up to be another stacked event, with one last chance to get some games on NSW turf in before SXC 2016, the thrilling conclusion to this year’s Victory Road series and all your usual tournament and casual favourites. You can save yourself a bit of cash by registering for the event ahead of time, so pre-register for November’s YSB here. Please note, you must provide staff with a purchase receipt from PayPal upon entry or your prepayment cannot be validated.

Another YSB is behind us and it was abundantly clear no post major lull affected the Sydney scene this month! Big thank you as always to everyone who came out and supported, in particular the interstaters, who helped make this one of the most diverse game and player lineups we’ve had at a monthly in a long time. We’ve (barely) recovered from OHN and that means it’s time for YSB to kick on! This month will feature Sydney’s debut King of Fighters XIV tournament as well as all your usual favourites.
