Results Round-Up – July 2nd-3rd


There were a couple of tournaments that took place over the first weekend of July. In Melbourne the local Tekken community ran their first arcade tournament for Tekken 7. Victory went to Jonathon Garofalo. Check out the results thread on Facebook for match videos and photos from the tournament, a couple of which are provided below.

On Saturday the third Sonic Boom tournament was held at GUF Brisbane. In addition to the regular Street Fighter V tournament there was also a tournament held for Ultra Street Fighter IV. Below we have the top 3 results for both game, taken from the results post on Facebook.

[Bris] Sonic Boom – May 8th Results


A new series of Street Fighter V tournaments kicked-off at Guf Brisbane last Sunday. There were 22 players competiting for the $150 pot bonus provided by of Gold Coast Fighters and tournament organiser Patrick Cummins. SuperBronze (Jin Smiff) went through the bracket undefeated to claim victory over GodlyEffect in the grand final. Top 3 results, brackets and photo are available below.

[Bris] Sonic Boom | SFV Tournament – May 8th


The quiet Brisbane Street Fighter V tournament scene is being Sonic Boomed back to life this Sunday at Guf Brisbane. For locals heading to Melbourne for BAM8 Sonic Boom will provide welcome tournament practice.

Note that this tournament will be run on PCs and pre-registration is available via Challonge. There are also great prizes on offer thanks to a $150 pot bonus courtesy of Gold Coast Fighters and tournament organiser Patrick Cummins.

Results Round-Up – April 16th-17th


Two of the interstate qualifiers for Battle Arena Melbourne 8 took place last weekend, with players competing for seeding at the forthcoming Australian major, which is also a Capcom Pro Tour Asia ranking event.

The first of these qualifiers was run by Stick Addiction at Three D6 in Canberra. This month’s Street Fighter V winner was Beefy who went undefeated with his M.Bison including a confident 3-0 win over Mikey in the grand final.

The second BAM8 qualifier was organised by OzHadou Perth and Pixel Expo at The Glitch last Sunday. First place in Street Fighter V went to SB|SonicFoxFanboy who also went through the bracket undefeated, including a 3-0 victory over YassBass777 in the grand final. Qualifier tournaments were also held for MKXL and UMvC3 which were won by xNoRagrets and Weng respectively.

[Woll] EXPAND GONG – April 2nd-3rd


The Wollongong FGC is holding the city’s first ever major fighting game tournament this April. EXPAND GONG will be held at the University of Wollongong. Travel time from Sydney is around 90 minutes. UOW is readily accessible by train (via North Wollongong station) and car, with plenty of parking available on and around campus.

The event will including tournaments for Street Fighter V, Mortal Kombat X and Super Smash Bros. Tournament entry fees will be awarded to the top 3 players in each tournament using a standard 60/30/10 distribution.

Date: Saturday, April 2nd – Sunday, April 3rd
Time: 9:00am – 7.00pm each day
Location: Building 11, University of Wollongong, Northfields Ave, Wollongong, NSW 2522
Entry Fee: $20 venue fee, plus $10 entry fee per tournament
