[Syd] AUG 15 UPDATE: List of international and seeded OHN14 players

Update: Due to the fact a number of other qualifying events have taken place and we’ve had a large influx of new sign-ups, here is an updated round-up of all international and seeded players for OHN14.

OHN has always been a celebration of Australia’s top talent across all fighting games. With this year’s event being included as part of the Capcom Pro Tour, a lot of international talent has also taken interest in the event and will be making their way to Sydney this August. Currently the confirmed players include:

[Syd] OHN14 – Qualifiers and Registration Discounts

With registrations closing about a month from today, planning for the 14th OzHadou Nationals major in Sydney are ramping up. There are several qualifiers taking place around the country this month and discounts for early registrations will be ending very soon.

OHN14 Qualifiers

Once again OHN is nominating local tournaments around the country as OHN qualifier events. Players that place well in an OHN14 qualifier will receive rank seeding privileges in the official tournament brackets at OHN14. Below is the current list of OHN14 qualifiers that have been announced to date. Check details of each event to learn more about which games are eligible for rank seeds.

For those pursuing valuable Capcom Pro Tour Asia points these qualifiers are must-attend tournaments to help strong players get solid starting positions in the OHN14 brackets for Street Fighter V.

Registration Discounts Ending July 31st

Registration for OHN14 has been opened for a while now. We already have over 100 competitors registered for the event and numbers are growing daily. OHN14 is shaping up to be one of the largest fighting game tournaments ever held in Sydney.

After July 31st the early-bird registration period will end with competitor pass prices increasing by $10. Orders for the limited-edition OHN14 t-shirt will also be closed once the early bird period has ended.

For those that need assistance to register, OzHadou will be taking OHN14 registrations in person for one day only – at YSB #44 on July 23rd (tomorrow). People are also encouraged to talk to other members of their local communities if they need help registering for OHN14, especially those attending any of the qualifier events listed above.

Make sure to register for OHN14 asap to secure your early bird discount and official t-shirt, and remember that OHN does not take any onsite registrations – all attendees must register online before August 22nd.

Finally for DIY tournament participants, please note that we’re taking tournament entry fees online for all DIY tournaments. This is a change to past OHN DIY tournaments so please remember to submit your registrations online. DIY games can be added to new and existing registrations up until August 22nd.

[Can] SFV ACT Qualifier for OHN14

The Stick Addiction crew is holding a special Street Fighter V tournament next weekend at Three D6. This will be the ACT qualifier for SFV at the OzHadou Nationals 14. Taking place on the last day of early bird registration this will provide Canberra players a chance to secure valuable seeding points for the upcoming Sydney major in August.

[SYD] York Street Battles #41 – April 30th

Update: The Sydney Smash community will be joining forces with us at this YSB! Sign-ups for both Smash 4 and Melee will be taken from 12pm and both brackets will begin at 12:30.

Sydney’s premier monthly event will be returning once again in April . Please note that 99 on York have asked that all YSB attendees sign-in at the front desk whenever entering the venue, please make sure you sign-in from now on. Those driving in might want to consider a membership at the club – $5 a year with $5 off parking every visit (plus you won’t have sign-in as a temporary member every month).

We’re pleased to announce that YSB 41 will also be a qualifying event for Battle Arena Melbourne 8! The winner of both Street Fighter V and Mortal Kombat X will be granted seeding at Melbourne’s major next month.

There’s a lot to look forward this month, here are the details:

Date: Saturday, April 30th
Time: 11:30am – 10:30pm
Location: Red Room, Level 1, 99 York St Sydney NSW 2000
Entry Fee: $15 (venue entry)

Centralised registration will cease at 2pm so if you arrive after that please find one of the tournament organisers floating around and sign up via one of us.

Tournament times for this month are as follows:
12:30pm – Super Smash Bros. Melee, Super Smash Bros. for Wii U
2:00pm – Street Fighter V
3:00pm – The King of Fighters XIII
4:00pm – Virtua Fighter 5 Final Showdown
5:00pm – Guilty Gear Xrd -SIGN-
6:00pm – Mortal Kombat X

Tournament participation is optional and tournaments will only be run if there are a sufficient number of entrants for each bracket on the day. Signups will open 30 minutes before each scheduled start time, look for a YSB staff member to register. The tournament fee for SFV and MKX is $5 with the entry distributed to the top 3 players. Tournament fees for other games are up to the organiser of each respective tournament and will be decided on the day.

In addition to the listed tournaments, there will be plenty of casuals available for a variety of games on the day. These range from the KOF franchise to older titles to a variety of anime games. If you’d like to co-ordinate casuals for a particular game, drop a comment on the Facebook event or speak to a YSB staff member on the day and we’ll be more than happy to try and co-ordinate a setup. BYO set-ups are also strongly encouraged and discounted entry will be offered to those who bring a full set-up (monitor + console).

[Per] WA BAM8 Prologue at The Glitch – April 17th

As Battle Arena Melbourne 8 draws near, CouchWarriors has reached out to local communities to host BAM8 prologue events. Competitors at the prologue tournaments have the chance to earn seeding points for the official BAM8 brackets.

The first of these prologue events has been announced. OzHadou Perth and V Energy are teaming up with The Glitch to hold the WA BAM8 prologue event on April 17th. BAM8 seeding points will be up for grabs in Street Fighter V and Mortal Kombat XL, and a side tournament for UMvC3 will also be on offer.

This is a BYO controller event and legacy controller support is “discouraged” so make sure you come prepared!
