Game City in Perth are hosting a tournament for Mortal Kombat X this Friday. This will be a double elimination tournament predominantly run on PS4 consoles.

The Wollongong FGC recently announced fresh details for EXPAND GONG, their first ever major tournament taking place in Wollongong on the first weekend in April.
First up the official tournament schedule has been announced. Check the schedule post on Facebook to find out when casual and tournament play will be available for each of the games at the tournament including SF5, MKX and Smash Bros.
On the prizes front, pot bonuses have been announced for all of the main tournaments at EXPAND GONG, ranging from $100 up to $400 as detailed below.

Finally online registration is now live for EXPAND GONG. Attendees can secure their venue and tournament entries by visiting the EXPAND GONG registration page. With venue entry set at $20 for the weekend, EXPAND GONG is great value for anyone looking for an intense 2-days of offline fighting game action.
Episode 6 of The Friendly Alliance Podcast is now available. In this episode hosts Cabjoy and Gilbagz interview Australian MKX players Castiel and Saggat83. Both of these players started out playing MKX online and have since made the transition to offline meets and tournaments. Topics of discussion include transitioning from online to offline play, the recently released MKXL and forthcoming Australian major BAM8.

The Wollongong FGC is holding the city’s first ever major fighting game tournament this April. EXPAND GONG will be held at the University of Wollongong. Travel time from Sydney is around 90 minutes. UOW is readily accessible by train (via North Wollongong station) and car, with plenty of parking available on and around campus.
The event will including tournaments for Street Fighter V, Mortal Kombat X and Super Smash Bros. Tournament entry fees will be awarded to the top 3 players in each tournament using a standard 60/30/10 distribution.

The University of Canberra recreation group UCREC is hosting another day of free gaming next Wednesday. This event includes a range of board games and video games, including fighting game titles such as Mortal Kombat X (PS4) and PS3 classics such as Tekken and Soul Calibur.

The latest in GooGie’s ongoing series of online tournaments for Mortal Kombat X went down last Sunday. Boasting over 40 entrants, it’s proving to remain a popular staple among the Australian MKX community. The results are as follows:
The next monthly online PS4 tournament for Mortal Kombat X is coming in early February. GooGie’s online tournaments are proving very popular and it’s not hard to see why: plenty of top players from all around the country competing in a free-entry bracket with $50 and other prizes up for grabs.
Entry is restricted to Australian and New Zealand players with proven stable wired connections. Instructions and live updates will be provided via this Facebook page so be sure to have it open during the tournament.
