[GC] SF5 at Good Games Gold Coast Results

This weekend saw another large scale Street Fighter V event hosted by Gold Coast Fighters at Good Games on the Gold Coast. The event saw healthy competition from the players as well as an impressive amount of interstate players in attendance and a sizeable prize pool. Congratulations to the Gold Coast Fighters for another great event, here are the full results:

[GC] Pre-Registration Open for SF5 at Good Games Gold Coast

UPDATE #1: there will be a prize raffle at this event with all competitors automatically entered into the draw. Check here for details.

UPDATE #2: this tournament is now an official qualifier event for BAM8! Attendees can now secure seeding points for the official BAM8 tournament brackets by entering this tournament.

This coming Saturday Good Games on the Gold Coast and the Gold Coast FGC are running their first large-scale tournament for Street Fighter V. A minimum prize pool of $500 will be up for grabs and this can increase depending on how many people participate.

Pre-Registration Now Open
Given the anticipated popularity of this tournament, the Gold Coast FGC has launched pre-registration for the tournament. Players can pre-register to secure their spot by visiting the relevant Challonge page.

Legacy Controllers Banned
With the tournament being run on PS4 consoles, legacy controllers will be banned for this tournament. Brook converters and modified sticks will be supported though it is up to players to make sure they have the latest firmware installed. Dualshock 4 users are required to desync their controllers after their matches; failing to do so will result in immediate disqualification.

Update 2: This event is now a BAM 8 qualifying event. The winner of this tournament will receive seeding at the major next month.

Update: Tournament staff have advised that legacy controllers will be banned at the tournament. Official PS4 sticks and pads will be supported as well as Brook converters and modified sticks though staff advise to make sure converter users make sure their firmware is up-to-date, as 8 minute timeout issues are the responsibility of the player. Dualshock 4 users are required to desync their controllers after their matches, failing to do so will result in immediate disqualification.

[Bris] Button-Smash 2016 – Pot Bonuses from GCFGC

Button-Smash 2016 is taking place on Sunday March 6th at GUF Brisbane. The Keep ‘et Classy crew recently made some announcements about the event. Neighbouring FGC community group Gold Coast FGC are providing some generous pot bonuses for both the Street Fighter V and SF3: Third Strike tournaments.

GCFGC will also be running a free-entry tournament for Yatagarasu Attack on Cataclysm (PC), with a prize on offer for the winner.

Note that players can only register online for this event, with the cut-off for registrations being Friday March 4th at 10pm. Visit the official website to register before the cut-off date and also learn more about Button-Smash 2016.

Street Fighter V has arrived and the Australian fighting game community has been marking the occasion with a deluge of tournaments nationwide. Local tournaments have already taken place in Ballarat, the Gold Coast, Hobart, Brisbane and Perth.

[GC] Gold Coast Throwdown V SFV Special – February 16th

The Gold Coast FGC will be hosting a Street Fighter V launch event as part of their ongoing Gold Coast Throwdown series when the game drops next week. The details are as follows:

[GC] USF4 @ GGS Gold Coast – January 23rd

Last Saturday the Gold Coast FGC organised a fitting farewell tournament for Ultra Street Fighter IV at Good Games on the Gold Coast. Originally projected to attract 25 players, the tournament exceeded organiser expectations with 39 registered competitors in the brackets and a total prize pool of $700 up for grabs.

Victory was claimed by Brisbane’s ON|Colonov, beating out YassBass777 3-1 in the grand final. Below we have top 8 results and prizes, along with photos, brackets and match videos from the tournament.

Remember that there’ll be more fighting game action at the Gold Coast Good Games store tomorrow (January 26th) as part of the GC FGC’s weekly Throwdown series.

The Gold Coast FGC is back at Good Games on the Gold Coast this Tuesday with the return of Gold Coast Throwdown – a weekly meet-up for offline casuals and special events. Players are encouraged to bring along consoles and monitors if possible to provide more setups for everyone to enjoy.

Gold Coast FGC Results Round-Up 2015

Since the arrival of Ultra Street Fighter IV in mid-2014, the Gold Coast FGC has held 10 tournaments for the game, 7 of which have taken place in 2015. This consistency has made the Gold Coast one of the most active offline scenes for USF4 in QLD.
