The doors will open at 11.30am so we can start setting up. If you’re bringing setups, it is recommended that you come at this time so you can set your stuff up as well. Also, if you plan on parking downstairs you will have more chance of getting a spot if you’re early.

You are free to move about any setup you like playing various casual games, though in the interest of fairness and ensuring everyone gets games in, please restrict your casual matches to the best of three games, before swapping out with someone who is waiting. Winner stays on.

Bring Your Own Controller (BYOC)
To prepare for future major events like OHN and aligning ourselves with EVO, setups provided by OzHadou for casual and tournament play will not have any controllers (sticks/pads). If you want to play on these setups, you will need to plug in your stick or pad. There will be no spare controllers available. On the slight chance that people aren’t using their stick or pad, you can ask them for permission to borrow it. Keep in mind they are allowed to refuse. Guilt tripping them will not be tolerated. Alternatively, if you have made arrangements beforehand with your friends to share sticks that’s fine as well. Seriously though, save yourself the hassle and carry a back pack with a stick/pad in it.

OzHadou setups are all Xbox360. For those people who are bringing their own setups that use other consoles, sticks should be provided. The Sydney Tekken Community intends to provide all equipment (including sticks) and will be playing TTT2 on PS3, although availability of setups for Tekken at this stage is yet to be confirmed. Further details for Tekken will be coming soon.

Make sure you register early to guarantee your spot in the games you want to play. Pre-registration saves you money and time, and allows you to see your pool allocations several days before the event so you can prepare for your matchups!
There is no guarantee that you will be able to enter on the day if the pools fill up so please do yourself a favor and register now!

Also, be sure to check out the BAM5 exhibition matches thread or check out the discussion on the Facebook page. Friday night should be full of incredible excitement and prodigious amounts of salt.

The BOMB has been set!

Johnny “Humanbomb” Cheng, the BAM2010 and OHN9 Champion and Evo Top 8 Qualifier returns to reclaim his crown. The constant bane of Australia’s best in Super Street Fighter IV, this year Humanbomb is back to shake up the scene and bring out our very best performance!

Will Johnny’s Hong Kong technology be too much for Australia’s finest, or will the unstoppable threat finally be disarmed by the Australian bomb squad? One thing’s for sure, BAM5 is going to be one hell of a show as we find out how far our Street Fighters have truly come!

Battle Arena Melbourne 2013: BAM5 (May 17-19)

Much thanks to Bosslogic for another great poster.

Battle Arena Melbourne is back, and the year 2013 marks the 5th anniversary of CouchWarriors’ annual fighting game major. BAM5 will be held on May, Friday the 17th through to Sunday the 19th and once again the venue will be the excellent CQ Functions Room, 113 Queen Street Melbourne. Pre-reg will be up soon.

We at CouchWarriors are very excited to see old friends return and compete in their favourite games. Exhibition matches and ‘high stakes’ events this year will be announced before the event, and scheduled throughout BAM5 on Friday and Saturday.

This year we’ll be including an extra Friday night for meet and greets, as well as exhibition matches and casuals. We’re also looking to secure a larger number of consoles this time around to ensure an excess of casual stations are available, including those kindly provided by the powerful gentlemen at Shadowlogic.

DIY tournament spots are available, if you have any questions or suggestions then post them on the CouchWarriors Facebook page, the Ozhadou forum thread or simply join the BAM5 Facebook event page at http://www.facebook.com/events/587593197917660/

Official tournaments sanctioned by the church of BAM include:
Super Street Fighter IV: Arcade Edition v2012
Ultimate Marvel vs Capcom 3
The King of Fighters XIII
Street Fighter X Tekken
Street Fighter 3: Third Strike
Super Smash Bros Brawl
Super Smash Bros Melee
