CvS2 Tournament Update
// September 17, 2007

Originally it was planned to run the CvS2 tournament using Dreamcasts. This was because sneek only had one arcade board for CvS2, and the game takes too long to resolve using only one setup.

The good news for CvS2 players is that sneek has managed to secure a second CvS2 board in time for OHN6. This means that the CvS2 tournament will now be run using the arcade version.

Players should note that arcade CvS2 will be set to Speed 4 which is the speed played in Sydney. This is important to note, as the default (and international standard) is Speed 3.

For further details about the CvS2 tournament, and any of the other official OHN6 tourneys, please visit the » Tournaments page.

Two Weeks Remaining to Prepay
// September 11, 2007

With prepayments for the OHN6 venue entry fee closing on Monday 24th Sept, there are only 2 weeks left for people to prepay.

Remember that when you prepay your venue entry fee for OHN6 you receive a $10 discount. That means you only pay $25 when you prepay. Note that this increases to $35 if you pay at the OHN6 registration desk.

To make a prepayment before the deadline, visit the prepayment section of the » Registration page and follow the instructions. Prepayments must be made to the OHN Paypal account. If you do not have access to either your own Paypal account or a valid credit card, you can also ask someone to pay on your behalf.

Please try and prepay your OHN6 venue entry fee before Monday 24th Sept so that you receive the discounted rate. A complete list of prepaid players can be found on the » Signups page.

Tournament Schedule Online
// July 14, 2007

The schedule for the » official tournaments is now online.

You can view the schedule by visiting the » Schedule page. Be sure to scroll down for all the tournament starting times on both Sat and Sun.

This year we've added an extra section in the schedule table for » DIY events. We will add any side tourneys or exhibitions that are being organised in the » forums to the schedule using the DIY column, so that people can better plan their activities during OHN6.

Now that the OHN6 timetable established, pre-registration will open very soon.

Travel and Accommodation
// July 8, 2007

OHN6 is taking place on the weekend of 29th-30th Sept, which is a long weekend in NSW because Mon 1st Oct is a public holiday.

While there are obvious advantages in holding OHN on a long weekend, it does make travel and accommodation a little more difficult. It's unlikely that there will be many discount flights to and from Sydney on the OHN6 weekend, and accommodation in Sydney is likely to be booked up quickly.

We strongly recommend that people travelling to Sydney for OHN6 should book their transport and accommodation as soon as possible. Prices are anticipated to rise significantly as the weekend draws nearer, and we know many players are on tight budgets.

So please book your trasport and accommodation asap if you're travelling to Sydney for OHN6. Use the » forums to coordinate your trip with other players, and to share any travel and accommodation advice you may have.

Street Fighter Alpha 2
// June 25, 2007

The Alpha series makes its debut at OHN this year, in the form of SFA2. Although it's not the newest Alpha game, SFA2 is a classic title that has more than earned the right to be included in the OHN line-up.

There are several reasons for including SFA2. Following the release of SFA Anthology on PS2 in 2006, everyone has easy access to a high quality port of all the Alpha games. SFA2 also has a rich tournament history, as this was the game that gave rise to the B3 tournament in the US, which went on to become » EVO.

SFA2 has enjoyed a recent revival in Sydney, thanks to the successful Heatwave tournament in Feb 2007, as well as monthly SFA2 tournaments at » GoodGames. On top of all this, the alpha test of Ponder's » GGPO online play software featuring SFA2 gives people a great opportunity to get in some lag-free SFA2 practice ahead of OHN6.

Full details for the SFA2 tournament are available on the » Tournaments page.

Capcom vs SNK 2
// June 24, 2007

When OzHadou first started, CvS2 was just about to be released in the arcade. This made CvS2 a great choice for organising tournaments since the game was new and everyone was learning how to play.

In late 2001, the CvS2 scenes in Sydney and Melbourne were beginning to thrive, and local tournaments were showcasing Australian fighting game talent. It was the quality of competition at the time which inspired the OHN tournament series. The highlight of the original OHN was the showdown between Sydney and Melbourne in CvS2.

Since the closing of Playtime in Sydney, the CvS2 arcade scene has dwindled away. But each year CvS2 is included at OHN, and the CvS2 players have always come out to support the game.

For more information about the CvS2 tournament, please check the » Tournaments page.

Virtua Fighter 5
// June 23, 2007

A launch title for the PS3, VF5 is the latest 3D fighter to be released in Australia. Featuring next generation graphics and all the depth that the Virtua Fighter series is famous for, VF5 is a welcome addition to the OHN6 line-up.

The VF series is very successful in Japan, and it is anticipated that worldwide interest in VF5 will increase when the game is released on the Xbox 360 later this year. Anyone interested in learning more about VF5 should check out » VFDC, which is run by Myke from Sydney.

For further details concerning the VF5 tournament at OHN, have a look at the » Tournaments page.

Marvel vs Capcom 2
// June 22, 2007

When OzHadou began, MvC2 was one of the most popular fighting games in Sydney. The first ever OzHadou tournament was run for MvC2, and its success was the launching pad for regular OzHadou tournaments in Sydney.

Today it is the Brisbane MvC2 scene which is the most active, although there has recently been some renewed interest in Sydney thanks to sneek's cabinets at » GoodGames. It will be interesting to see if the active Brisbane players are ready to defeat the reigning Sydney champions.

The details for the MvC2 tournament can be viewed by visiting the » Tournaments page.

Tekken Tag Tournament
// June 21, 2007

As a launch title for the PS2, TTT has been around for quite some time. While DR is all the rage right now, and Tekken 6 is on the horizon, this classic fighter is still held in high regard by many Tekken players.

Some consider TTT to be the most balanced game in the Tekken series. The combination of a large cast of characters and the unique tag team gameplay are some of the features that make this game work so well. Perhaps one day Namco will see fit to make the TTT sequel that people have been wanting for years.

In the meantime, TTT returns for OHN6. All the details for the TTT tournament are available on the » Tournaments page.

Super Street Fighter II Turbo
// June 20, 2007

A classic title in its own right, ST is considered by many to be one of the best 2D fighters ever made. Many of the OzHadou team grew up with SF2, making it a welcome addition to the OHN tournament roster.

ST is also receiving a new release this year, with HD Remix coming to PS3 and Xbox 360 in late 2007. The game is being completely redrawn in HD resolution, and will be the first official release of ST to feature online play.

OHN6 is a great chance for ST fans to test their skills against the best in Australia, and for people unfamiliar with ST to learn some advanced techniques in time for ST HD Remix. For more information about the ST tournament, see the ST section of the » Tournaments page.

Tekken 5: Dark Resurrection
// June 19, 2007

The latest release in the popular Tekken fighting game series, DR has proven extremely popular in Australia. With a quality console release now available, supported by a strong competitive scene, DR is a natural choice for the OHN6 line-up.

DR was extremely successful at OHN5, with over 50 competitors battling for the Australian Tekken crown. The competition around the country has been fierce, and last year's top 8 featured players from Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane.

This year OzHadou is offering a guaranteed cash prize pool of $500 for the DR tournament. This prize money will be shared by the top 8 players.

For more details on the rules and prize, check out the DR section of the » Tournaments page.

Street Fighter III: 3rd Strike
// June 18, 2007

Without a doubt 3S is currently the most popular competitive 2D fighting game in Australia. With regular RanBats held at » GoodGames in Sydney, and an all-Melbourne team set to represent Australia at SBO in August, the 3S scene in Australia continues to thrive.

In response to the huge success of 3S at OHN5, which featured over 50 competitors from around Australia, this year OzHadou are proud to offer a guaranteed cash prize pool of $500, which will be shared by the top 8 players.

For more details, visit the 3S section of the » Tournaments page.
